The format of resolutions follows the format used by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin Resolutions.  Each county party is entitled to submit ten (10) resolutions for consideration at our Congressional District Convention.  At the District Convention our 7th CD will then vote for a total of ten (10) resolutions that will be sent on to the State Convention.  Resolutions cannot exceed 100 words.  Resolutions will be grouped in four categories:

RESOLUTIONS CONCERNING EDUCATION, LABOR AND ECONOMICS

RESOLUTIONS CONCERNING AGRICULTURE AND ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS

RESOLUTIONS CONCERNING JUSTICE, HUMAN CONCERNS AND DEMOCRACY

RESOLUTIONS CONCERNING FOREIGN AFFAIRS

As you prepare and send your county’s resolutions to the Resolutions Committee, please use the following format as shown in the example:

Provide an Appropriate Title for your Resolution  (County – number of words)

WHEREAS, …….; and,

WHEREAS, …….; and,

WHEREAS, …….;

THEREFORE, RESOLVED, ……..

For example: No Voucher   (Sawyer County – 98 words)

WHEREAS, the state and federal budgets have targeted public education for drastic financial reductions; and,

WHEREAS, the teachers and other educational professionals trained and licensed to be educators in our public school systems have been targeted for reduction and that union and collective bargaining rights have been curtailed;

THEREFORE, RESOLVED, that the Democratic Party advocate the reduction of allowed vouchers to pay for private and chartered education and instead reinvest in the public schools, allowing adequate funding for quality education, and further advocate for the return of collective bargaining rights to educators and public employees.

Your use of this format and sending your resolutions by email is greatly appreciated by the Resolutions Committee—this limits frustration and difficulty in preparing for our Convention.

Thank you,

Waldo Asp, Resolutions Committee
